ABB FSM4000 Magmeter for "Noisy" Applications

ABB FSM4000 Magmeter for "Noisy" Applications

Featuring an improved AC magnetic field excitation and digital signal processing, the FSM4000 magmeter delivers a ±0.5% of flow rate accuracy, which is unique for a system with this fast a response time. With its AC excitation, the FSM4000 measures 100% of the useful signal, leaving no measurement signal umprocessed and maximum signal volume is utilized.

The FSM4000 also employs a diagnostic coil to actively adjust the zero and eliminate any line noise. This innovative signal gain provides more information for processing and it higher signal to noise ration was unacheiveable by existing systems.

The universal applicability of the FSM4000 offers one universal, high-performing system for all flow measuremnts of conductive liquids, allowing users to minimize spare parts while lowering the total cost of ownership.

The FSM4000 includes many advances in both its primary that installs in a process pipeline, and its entirely new digital converter. The new converter employs a simple, menu-driven configuration. A short and quick data entry process is used to load all user specific parameters required for instrument operation through an "East Set-up" process. Configuration parameters and calibration data area saved in an external FRAM that plugs directly into the DSP converter. If converter replacement is necessary, all configuration parameters and calibration data are automatically downloaded to the converter, saving valuable time.

The new FSM4000 electromagnetic flowmeter allows provides users with tangible returns on their capital investments while helping them to run their process more profitably. This revolutionary technology has set a new standard for flow measurement in the metals & mining applications with high solid content, pulsating flows or any noisy process.

Highlights of FSM400 Specifications

· Accuracy: < +/- 0.5% of flow rate.

· Conductivity Limits: As low as 20 µS/cm (optional 0.5 µS/cm)

· Sensors: Available with diameters from 1/25-inch to 40 inches; all stainless steel construction with liners of PFA, PTFE, or hard rubber. Variety of pipe connections, including flanged, wafer design, and for sanitary applications, Tri-Clamp.

· Fluid Temperature Limits: - 40 F to 266 F; high temperature design, up to 356 F.

· Converter: Affords simple, menu-driven configuration routines. Can simulate flow rates to
test its outputs -- a feature also useful in commissioning a flow loop. Can use such protocols as HART , serial communications, and common fieldbus types, on request.

· Power Supply: 115/239 VAC, 50/60 Hz, 24 V AC/DC

FSM4000 Operating Advantages

· Affords simple and fast start-up; i.e., works "right out of the box."

· Has latest in self-diagnostics to lower operating and maintenance costs

· Is backwards compatible with existing ABB magmeter sensors to minimize parts stocking.

· Offers one universal, high-performance system for use on all magmeter applications in a
plant and all of a company's plants. Thus, can reduce parts stocking, maintenance, and operator training.
