Rubalit® HSS, the newest aluminum oxide ceramic substrate developed by CeramTec, continues the company's popular line of ceramic substrates that offer extremely high strength and elasticity along with outstanding thermal properties.

The Rubalit HSS (High Strength Substrate) features an ultra fine microstructure and highly consistent surface quality. Available in thicknesses .008, .010 and .015 inches, the new substrate offers designers 500 percent greater thermal cycling resistance and 50 percent more bending strength and surface quality compared to conventional substrates.

Ideal for applications where high power densities and component miniaturization are called for, Rubalit HSS is compatible with new, higher caliber technologies used in electronic solutions for a broad variety of markets.

Suggested applications include automotive, power supply, sensing, durable goods, telecom, medical and aerospace systems. Based on the 3 Point Method for testing bend strength, the new substrate measured more than 700 Mpa (102 ksi), with a modulus of elasticity rated at 335 GPa. Bulk density tests out at 4.35 g/cm3. CeramTec manufactures standard dimensions up to 127-mm widths and 165-mm lengths (5 x 6.5 inches).
