New self-contained, rectangular, inductive proximity sensor, the GX-F series and GX-H series which provides precision detection even under harsh conditions has just been released under SUNX brand from Panasonic Electric Works Corp of America (New Providence, NJ). The improved features of the new SUNX GX-F/H series include stable sensing, higher shock & vibration resistance, IP68g construction, an easy to see indicator with a wide field of view, a metal mounting hole sleeve for greater strength during tightening, and larger gauge leads for easy wiring. The GX-F/H series offers maximum operation distance of 4.0 mm +/- 8% and a stable sensing range of 0 to 3.3 mm with excellent resistance to ambient temperature drift and/or supply voltage fluctuation. This allows for unparalleled stability in applications where avoiding part-to-part variations is critical. The GX-F/H series also provides shock resistance of 10,000 m/s 2 and vibration resistance which clears durability tests of between 10 and 500 Hz. In addition, resistance to impulse noise is approximately three times greater than for previous models. Along with IP68g protective construction, the GX-F/H series can be used in a wide range of applications. Typical applications include: checking up/down operation of molding equipment, presence sensing of metal objects on a parts feeder, positioning processing equipment, verifying robot finger chucks and muting control of light curtains in automotive or related metal fabricating industries. The GX-F/H series is available in two types; GX-8 type (8 mm wide) and GX-12 type (12 mm wide). Both types come in either NPN or PNP, and front or top sensing.
