The FlexiForce® product line was developed by Tekscan, Inc. in response to the unique needs of companies requiring cost-effective force sensing solutions in their products. These force sensors are utilized to: detect and measure a relative change in force or applied load; detect and measure the rate of chance in force; identify force thresholds and trigger appropriate action; detect contact and/or touch.
Tekscan offers standard and custom-designed sensors to satisfy the needs of your application. Our team works closely with OEM customers throughout each stage of the design process, ensuring the optimal force sensor for the application at hand.
Those who have already benefited from Tekscan's custom force sensors include manufacturers in the medical, automotive, and recreational/entertainment industries. Custom FlexiForce sensors can be incorporated into drug delivery systems, braking systems, security devices, robotic equipment, and much more. The image here shows just a few of the custom sensors we have created in the past. As you will see, we can design sensors with single elements, multiple points, small sensing areas, larger sensing areas, and a wide variety of shapes and sizes. While these particular custom force sensors are not available for resale, Tekscan can create a sensor design that will be the perfect fit for your OEM application.
The smallest and largest custom force sensor Tekscan can create is determined on an individual basis, depending on the maximum force that will be applied. It is possible to achieve a sensing area as small as 2mm2 as long as the pressure remains between 1 PSI and 10,000 PSI. The turnaround time for a prototype is typically 6-12 weeks, depending on queue status at the time of order. Tekscan typically requires a minimum quantity of 1000 pieces for a custom design. Cost varies depending on the sensor size, complexity of design, force ranges, quantities, etc. Please contact flexiforce@tekscan.com to discuss your requirements and specifications.
