Audio Mixers and Consoles

About Audio Mixers and Consoles

Audio mixers and audio consoles combine signals from microphones and/or line level sources to produce a combined signal or signals. They also route and change the levels of audio signals. A mixing console is used to mix digital or analog signals. Each input signal to the mixing board has its own dedicated channel. The channel is set to either stereo or monaural, depending on the type of mixing board. The amplification factor is controlled by buffering the signals received from the input device. This operation is necessary to adjust the signal value at the nominal level of processing. The mixing board also includes a potentiometer for amplitude adjustment before the final mixing of the signals takes place. Finally, signals from various input channels are added together to generate the main mix signal. In this way, the final audio production for audio mixers and consoles is a combination of several input signals.

There are many types of audio mixers and audio consoles. Examples include a M7CL digital mixing console and a M10-E mixing board. A M7CL digital mixing console is a digital audio mixer that uses audio mixer software. This type of mixing console is a compact, lightweight audio mixer with multi-effect processors which allows the mixer to deliver best performance. A M10-E mixing board is a lightweight soundboard powered by a 9-V battery. This popular soundboard provides several input and output connections for accepting signals. Other audio mixers and consoles are also available. These devices can be used to power microphones, add external affects to audio, and create audio tones.

Audio Amplifiers and Preamplifiers
Audio amplifiers and audio preamplifiers are units that amplify a sound signal, which is then sent to a speaker or another amplifier.
Audio Connectors
Audio connectors are used to affix cables to other audio equipment, providing electronic signal transference and grounding protection.
Audio Headphones
Audio headphones are small speakers worn over the ears to isolate sounds for the listener.
Audio Microphones
Audio microphones are designed for sound reception and recording applications (speech and music).
Audio Switch Matrices
Audio switch matrices are electronic switching instruments for interfacing audio signals in scanning, recording and analysis systems.
Digital Audio Systems
Digital audio systems electronically record and store audio signals such as voice, music, alarm, and security messaging for broadcast, editing, monitoring, and playback.
Headsets
Headsets are attachments for holding an earphone and transmitter to the user's head.
Speakers
Speakers produce and transmit sounds carried by electrical or radio signals.  This product category is primarily for industrial and OEM speakers rather than those for home use.
Specialty Audio Equipment
Specialized audio equipment is used in specific industries such as the recording industry, and for specialized applications such as voice digitizing and analysis.
Voice Loggers and Audio Recorders
Audio recorders / voice loggers are used to locate, retrieve, duplicate and/or distribute audio voice or data information from single system environments to large multi-channel networked systems.
