The ASAP Biological Aerosol Sampler builds upon the experience gained by the Thermo Fisher Scientific organization in providing the samplers used to monitor biological aerosols during the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympic Games.

Active particles have become an important topic, both domestically and internationally, with the advent and persistence of communicable infections and diseases transmitted through air such as SARS and bird flu as well as the threat of biological aerosols.
